Making Hamburger Helper
Hamburger helper is such a nostalgic meal for me. We ate it all the time growing up and it wasn’t until recently that I made it homemade for my family. Making it is quite simple, especially when you do it in the instant pot.
First, you start by sautéing the onion and ground beef with salt and pepper and any other seasonings you may want to add. Once the ground beef is browned you will add milk, broth, and tomato sauce. Press the pasta under the liquid as much as you can and cook.
So how exactly do we turn hamburger helper into bacon cheeseburger hamburger helper? It’s simple, you will want to the typical ingredients you see in a bacon cheeseburger which include onion, pickles, ketchup, mustard, cheese, and of course bacon. All of these things take the normal hamburger helper to the next level.
Since we’re adding a second meat, you’ll want to sauté your bacon first. This is going to flavor your pan and give your beef extra flavor. After your bacon is done cooking and it’s crispy, you’ll want to take it out and set aside. Break it into small pieces. When your cheeseburger hamburger helper is cooked, pour in the bacon pieces and give it a good stir.
What type of pasta should you use?
If you read the ingredients list or looked at the picture, you may have noticed we used cellentani pasta which is one of my favorites. This is all based on preference. You can use any pasta you want or any that you have in your pantry at the moment!
I’m excited for you to try this and share this with your family. It’s incredibly delicious and has all of the flavors of a delicious bacon cheeseburger. With little prep time, I’m convinced you’re going to want to make this over and over again.
