The easiest roasted green beans recipe ever. Fresh minced garlic and olive oil coat the green beans. They are finished with salt, pepper, and roasted to perfection for 30 minutes.
Green beans are so nutritious and should be a part of your meal more often. To make easy garlic roasted green beans, you can use either fresh or frozen green beans. The only difference is the cook time. If green beans aren’t a part of your dinner menu, you’ll want to add them.
The Ingredients
The ingredients in these garlic roasted green beans are simple. Assuming you already have salt and pepper on hand, you’ll only need to check your pantry for 3 items. They are as follows:
- 1 12oz package of fresh or frozen green beans
- olive oil
- fresh garlic cloves
When choosing olive oil, get a good brand. You can even opt for a flavored olive oil which will elevate the flavor even more.
As for the garlic, I highly recommend you use fresh. Get a head of garlic and mince 5 cloves. Garlic powder will not cut it for this. I notice a huge difference between fresh clove from a head of garlic and even the pre-minced version you can find in a jar. However, if that’s all you have on hand, it will still be great.
Do You Thaw Frozen Green Beans Before Cooking?
So do you thaw the green beans before cooking or not? The answer I have for this is that you can, but don’t have to. Each time I use frozen green beans, I throw them in with all the ingredients and let them bake. They not only thaw but also cook in the oven resulting in great tasting vegetables.
Are These Green Beans Good For You?
Are garlic roasted green beans good for you? Yes, absolutely! Green beans are high in vitamin K, calcium and folate. Olive oil, on the other hand, reduces blood pressure and inflammation. They’re also completely vegan!
How They’re Made
Making these garlic roasted green beans is easy. All you need is a baking dish. You’ll start by adding the green beans, garlic, and olive oil. Stir to coat the green beans and garlic with oil. Top with salt and pepper.
Place in a preheated oven to 400 degrees and bake for 30-35 minutes or until your green beans are cooked. Once done, give it a good stir and serve.
Can You Use Fresh Green Beans?
In this recipe, you can certainly use fresh green beans if you want to! You’re not limited to using frozen green beans. If you decide to use fresh green beans there are a few things to keep in mind. First, you’ll want to trim the ends off the fresh green beans and rinse.
The fresh green beans don’t cook quite as long as the frozen. At 400 degrees, these only need to bake for 20-25 minutes. They’re so easy!
