For all of you pizza lovers out there, I have a super delicious and cheesy supreme pizza dip. This dip is not your typical pizza dip. It is stacked with all of your favorite ingredients from green peppers, to banana peppers. Of course, you can’t forget about the meats. Instead of just featuring pepperoni ive also added sausage because how can you not? Once this dip is baked and ready you’ll realize how addicting it is!
Not your typical pizza dip
I would say the most popular pizzas to get are pepperoni and cheese. I on the other hand have always loved a pizza that had a lot of toppings on it. For me, toppings just make the pizza that much better. I wanted to make a dip that had a variety of flavors in each and every bite. I wanted a dip that was meaty but also full of bites of veggies and that’s exactly what this is.
The creamy filling is made with cream cheese and pizza sauce. I highly recommend you using your favorite jar of pizza sauce. Of course homemade pizza sauce is the best but for the sake of time, buying a jar will do the trick. This pizza sauce mixed with cream cheese makes the best creamy base for the rest of the ingredients.
The top layer is really what completes this dip. The topping is made with mozzarella cheese and tiny pepperonis. I loved using the tiny pepperoni in this recipe for a few reasons. The first one is because it makes the dip look extremely appetizing. The other reason is because it’s perfect for dip and it fits on a chip perfectly as opposed to a large pepperoni. When using small pepperonis try not to cover the top too much as it can get a little too greasy.
How it’s made
This pizza dip starts at the cutting board and ends in the oven. After your veggies are prepped you’ll start sautéing the sausage in a skillet until it’s brown. Once browned you’ll want to add your onion and green pepper and sauté until the onion is softened and translucent. This is important because you don’t want to bite into a raw vegetable when you’re eating.
Next you’ll want to make sure your cream cheese is softened. If it’s not it’ll be really hard to mix it with your pizza sauce and the other ingredients. To a greased pan add you cream cheese, pizza sauce, and sausage, pepperoni, green pepper, onion, banana pepper, garlic, and Italian seasoning and mix as well as you can. If you have cream cheese clumps, have no worries it will melt and blend with the other ingredients once it’s baked.
Before throwing it in a 350 degree oven, top with cheese and the remaining pepperoni. Bake until the dip is bubbly and cheese is melted. You’re going to love the way this dip turns out. It’s fun for tailgating or any get together. This is not your typical pizza dip and I’m excited for you to try it!
The Best Zesty Italian Pizza Dip
Ingredients
- 1 lb Sausage
- 1/2 onion chopped
- 1 Green pepper chopped
- 2 teaspoons minced Garlic
- 8 oz cream cheese softened
- 1 14 oz jar pizza sauce
- 1/2 cup small pepperoni slices
- 1 teaspoon Italian seasoning
- 1/4 cup Banana peppers
- 1 cup Mozzarella
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 375 degrees
- In a skillet sauté and brown your sausage over medium heat until cooked through completely. Strain the excess grease and return to the stove. Add your onion, green pepper, and garlic and cook until the vegetables have softened and your onion has become translucent.
- To a baking dish, add your softened cream cheese, sausage mixture, pizza sauce, half of the pepperoni slices, Italian seasoning, and banana peppers. Top with cheese and the remaining pepperoni slices
- Bake for 20-25 minutes until the cheese is melted and bubbly
